How safe is your anchor? Hone your anchor building and safety skills in this complementary skills clinic for Ohio Climbers Coalition (OCC) members!

Who: Anyone who would like additional help or review of their anchor setting skills, including climbers who, a) recently attended a gym-to-crag or other anchor building class, b) would like to have professional assessment of their anchoring skills, or c) would like tips on assessing the safety of another’s anchor.

What: Our guest instructor will review your anchors and offer anchor building and safety tips, including the use of natural anchors, safely accessing fixed anchors, and rope transfer (cleaning).

Where: Whipp’s Ledges, Hinckley Reservation

When: Saturday, August 10, 2019
First session: 8:30-11:00 (6 spots available)

If the first session fills up:
Second session: 12:30 - 3:00 (6 spots available)

Why: Because we love our members!

Cost: FREE for OCC members! Pre-registration is required as space is limited. A $15.00 refundable deposit will hold your spot (returned to you through PayPal after the Clinic or you may want to donate it towards future OCC educational programs). No-shows (not cool) forfeit deposit, so please let us offer the spot to someone else if you can’t make it.

What to bring: Your personal climbing and anchoring gear. Helmets are required and will be provided. Dress for the weather, water, food, bug spray, notebook/pen, any necessary personal items. Please, no flip-flops allowed.

What else:
*This is an intermediate-advanced level clinic. If you have never had instruction in anchor building, Whipp’s Anchor Clinic Level 1 or other basic course is where you would start.

**Membership: Various ways to join:
1.) Already a member, $15.00 deposit for the Clinic.
2.) Must join the Access Fund to join the OCC.
3.) Event pricing for both memberships saves $15.00!
4.) Basic Membership is $35.00 + $15.00 deposit for the Clinic.
5.) Membership with Access Fund Tee is $50.00 + $15.00 deposit for the Clinic.
6.) Any variation over $35.00 + $15.00 deposit for the Clinic

***Joining does not register you for the clinic. You must pre-register and pay deposit separately from joining.

This is first come first served, based on the order of the emails received.

Send your email to norm@ohioclimberscoalition.org. Include the words “Whipps Anchor Clinic II” in the subject and include your name(s) and phone number(s) in the email. This first email holds your position in order received until we have a chance to work out the details (membership and deposit).

We will respond to the first 12 emails received, giving information on how to join the OCC and how to hold your spot in the clinic.

If there are more than 12 emails, we will start a waiting list, no deposit required for the waiting list unless someone cancels and you are contacted.
